If you're coming to skate Tampa Am next month, don't worry about blowing it. I went through 10 years of results to find some interesting names at the bottom of each day's Qualifiers for Tampa Am. It almost seems like it's an honor to get DFL at this point. Someone needs to step in and make a trophy for that.

It almost seems like it's an honor to get DFL at this point. Someone needs to step in and make a trophy for that.
- Corey Duffel got DFL back in 2001. Colt Cannon won it that year.
- Chris Roberts got DLF back in 2002 on Friday. The bottom 10 spots in 2002 on Saturday included Nick Dompierre, Dan Pensyl, Kyle Leeper, Joey Brezinski, and Rodrigo Peterson. Caswell Berry won it that year.
- Jose Rojo was spared DFL by one spot in 2003 on Saturday. Windsor James was in the same situation in 2003 on Friday. Others at the bottom of the pile included Nick Dompierre, Jack Sabback, and Nate Broussard. Spanky won it that year.
- In 2004 on Saturday, the bottom had now familiar names like Windsor James, Tommy Sandoval, Danny Renaud, Lindsey Robertson, and Garrett Hill. 2004 on Friday had Sammy Baca in DFL closely followed by Dan Pensyl. Other familiar names at the bottom of that day were Raymond Molinar, Sam Baptista, Lenny Rivas, Ernie Torres, and Weiger. Sierra Fellers won it that year.
- Tommy Sandoval went from the bottom last year to the top and qualified first in 2005 on Saturday. Interesting names at the bottom there include Jimmy Lannon, Dennis Durrant, and Chima Ferguson. In 2005 on Friday, you will find Angel Ramirez in DFL with Andrew Allen at a close runner up for last. Omar Salazar, Manny Santiago, Windsor James, and Braydon Szafranski were also far down the list. Nyjah Huston won it that year.
- DFL in 2006 on Saturday was owned by Tyler Bledsoe. Andrew Allen, Luis Tolentino, and Greg Myers are not far off from him. In 2006 on Friday, Riley Hawk came to Tampa for the first time and DFL'd himself. I specifically remember someone getting a call from Tony Hawk asking about it. Also at the bottom were Jimmy Lannon, Garrett Hill, Austyn Gillette, and Marisa Del Santo. Cody McEntire won it that year.
- Current reality TV star John Ponts was one spot from DLF in 2007 on Saturday. Antwuan Dixon is far down there, too. In 2007 on Friday, Greg Myers, Ben Raybourn, Austyn Gillette, and Kelly Hart blew it. Felipe Gustavo won it that year after we almost didn't let him in the Contest because he didn't take care of his spot ahead of time due to some confusion with registration.
- 2008 was the last year Tampa Am was in January each year. In January 2008 on Saturday, Jake Donnelly was saved from DFL by Nate Fantasia. You can find Tom Remillard, Marius Syvanen, Torey Pudwill, and Daryl Angel far down the list, too. In January 2008 and Friday, John Lupfer was DFL with a very hung over John Motta close behind. Tyler Bledsoe also broke through the 100th place mark that day. Ryan Decenzo won it that year.
- In December 2008 on Saturday, you can find Jeffrey Marshall and Tom Remillard near the bottom. In December 2008 on Friday, Jimmy Carlin broke the 90th place spot. Luan Oliveira won it that year.
- In 2009 on Friday, Jake Johnson broke the 100th place mark. In 2009 on Saturday, Chima Ferguson "missed" DFL by one spot. SPoT locals Abdias Rivera and Yonnie Cruz are scraping the barrell, too. Luan Oliveira won it again that year.
- In 2010 on Saturday, Wes Kremer and Vince Del Valle broke the 100th place mark. For 2010 Friday, Tom Remillard claims DFL with Jake Donnelly, Daniel Lutheran, and Nate Broussard joining him below 100th. Elijah Berle won it that year.
