It Was This Big: A Fishing Trip With Tolentino and Montesi

There’s nothing like blowing off a day of work to go fishing. It’s not often that I do that, but I couldn’t decline this invite to hang with such a fun crew. The best part of this trip was that our captain was a true professional and got our 11 person group into the absolute best spots about 10 miles off of John’s Pass on St. Pete Beach. We caught nearly 200 fish and kept about 110 of them.

The struggle was worth it. This is a red snapper, but too small to legally keep.

Luis Tolentino got his own red snapper. He’s been fishing before, but this was actually the first fish he ever caught.
Tony Reddington was completely prepared with that shirt. Thanks for setting this whole thing up, Tony.
Someone caught a lizard fish and we used him for bait.
We all caught a lot of grunts, otherwise known as “grey snapper.”

I think that I personally caught 30 – 40 fish. I lost track counting, which is a great feeling when you’re out on the water. It was definitely NOT a wasted day.
The casualties were piling up like a multi-car collision on the interstate.
