Remember that kid at ASR last week whose name I didn't know? I don't think anyone knew his name until today. He qualified first and is going straight to the Finals. His name is Sierra Fellers. Normally you'd call the trick police to arrest someone doing a nasty looking back foot kickflip, but this dude did a backside 180 one chest high and so damn smooth over the pyramid hip. The trick police didn't care too much for the nollie heelflip indy grab he did either, but other than that, the kid rips. I can't wait to see him on Sunday.
The first heat of the day turned out to be many of the people who skated the best and made the cut. SPoT local Matt Giles ripped in his first run and made the cut at 10th. Clements and I just called him to break the news to him. He was pretty damn hyped and will probably drink extra moonshine so watch out for Giles the Ragin' Caucasian and me, the Ragin' Asian, at the Anniversary Party in a few hours.
It sucks that there has to be a cut somewhere. There were plenty of people that ripped but did not make the cut after the numbers were crunched. This dude from France named Danny Hamard is someone to look out for. Sucks that Aaron Perko didn't make it either.
Speaking of the Anniversary Party, there's a limo full of my best friends outside my door waiting to go to the party. Would you stay behind and upload a bunch of photos and video for a bunch of internet nerds? Yeah, me neither. I'm out of here. I'll post the photos from today hopefully tomorrow morning if I'm not still drunk when I wake up, assuming I get some sleep.
UPDATE: Here are photos from Friday:
