Winter Haven has this skate comp called Downtown Throwdown that takes places in (you guessed it) downtown Winter Haven, so we decided to load up some talent and homies and take a trip out there to see what was up. Here's the media team and Jitt Squad gearing up to get down for the day.
Uncle Sam recently bought a new camera and was killing the film game. Naturally, we decided to take a photo of each other taking a photo. You can check his photos here.
OFFTHATWET CEO, Derick Wynn pushes against the wind with Frank Branca in pursuit.
Here is Derick Wynn casually blasting one of his infamous bonelesses. Don’t you wish they were as easy as he makes them look?
Our maintenance commanders Josh Knight and Pat Daly decided to join us for the session and killed it! If you ever see these guys at the park, give them a high five!
Once we arrived in Winter Haven, we ran into our main man, and your favorite PBR Rep: Seamus. Himself and Uncle Sam pose for the flick here.
Even your family pet was welcome at the Downtown Throwdown. This little guy was running around and made friends with Frank, so we grabbed him for a photo.
Another photo of a photo. A quickly-snapped polaroid of announcer extraordinare, Harry, Frank, and myself.
This guy looked juiced, so I took his picture.
Insta Ramp came through with the mini ramp for this comp. They even put together their own edit, which you can watch right here. Here's Jitt Squad coolin it on the sidelines after the winner was announced. Congrats to Poptart for taking the cash & title this year!
We all know how good Uncle Sam is, right? If you’re not aware, you might live under a rock. If that’s the case, check out this body twister of a backside 180 switch front crook.
During the stair contest there was a low key flatbar session going down, so I decided to document that instead. Here is Julian Lewis showing you how to do a proper nollie front crooked grind.
Maintenance team on the scene! Josh Knight blew through with this hurricane in the middle of a Florida winter.
What trick went down to put this look on Justin’s face? Oh, and checkout his instagram @justin_zaragoza.
Alejandro shut down the stair contest before it even started with this wallie off of the back of the trailer.
Pat
If you know Pat, you know he loves an ice cold PBR. But who doesn’t, right?
The stairs were sort of janky for the contest, but Julian’s tricks weren’t. Front feeble.
Marse “little” Farmer with a textbook nose grind.
Who
We didn’t get this dude’s name, but he was ripping. That’s for sure. Front Noseblunt- locked and loaded.
Julian doesn’t only do his front crooks nollie. Here he is putting one down the handrail with authority.
Local favorite Chad Poore was on the scene as well. He probably landed nearly 30 tricks during this jam, but here is a frontside feeble that I was able to capture. Point that toe, Chad!
Most everyone in the contest was hucking down the handrail, but not Clint Beswick. Super smooth nollie flip down the set.
Announcer extraordinare, Harry Chippas ladies and gentleman!
The SPoT crew stopped by Lakeland skatepark before heading to Winter Haven for the Downtown Throwdown. Alejandro Over the Bar Front Smith.
Uncle Sam is my favorite skater because of how he skates anything in sight. Hippie Jump...
The bowl was empty and Alejandro was around so I had some fun getting him to destroy all corners of this thing. Rock and Roll.
Backside air.
Fast Plant the pool coping.
Giancarlo FS 50-50 the deep end corner.
Derick Wynn shut down the session with this Fast Plant on the big box. We literally left right after he landed this and headed straight to the Downtown Throwdown
