Tampa Pro 2015: The Calm Before the Storm

Posted on Tuesday, March 17, 2015 by Chris

It's Tuesday of Tampa Pro week, 2015 and it's pretty quiet around here so far. Right now it's just branding, tightening up, planning, cleaning, and preparing for the best Pro contest ever. I won't spoil all the new additions to the park, you'll just have to see for yourself. Here's a few cellphone photos I got today of how we get ready. Make sure you check out Thursday night's Welcome To Town party at The Bricks, and the "Moat Definitely" skateboard photo show, featuring work by Ed Templeton, Bryce Kanights, Mike Burnett and more. It's gonna be a great weekend - let's do it.

It's the week of Tampa Pro, but we're not quite there yet. This is when all the setting up and tightening up happens around the park to make it even better than last year's. Back in our Innetech offices, it's business as usual. Andy's got your SPoTTampa.com orders boxed and ready to ship.
Our newest staff member back here in the nerd cave is Adam Washell, who hails from my hometown of Lakeland, FL. Adam is helping with tightening up the retail end of things and ordering lots of cool shit for us to sell in the shop.
You remember the Tampa Pro survival kits we did last year? Well, we're doing them again and they're even better this time. All the Pros will get one of these to help them get through the weekend.
Get to know this area because this is where the free drinks will be served. Monster is a new sponsor this year, and will have plenty of canned energy in case you start getting faded.
In the Dungeon, which is where we keep all the tools of the trade and everything behind the scenes and maintenance, as well as the bodies, Schaefer and Josh Knight go over the plan for the weekend to keep it tight around the park.
Out in the courtyard, the banners and branding are already in place for the Converse Concrete Jam on Saturday night. I can't wait to see the insane shit that goes down over this keyhole gap. Make sure you stick around for that party - Patman & Robin (Pat Duffy & Rob Welsh) will be performing, as well as a Misfits cover band.
Look at the size of this projection screen that Brian Reardon and Auxiliary Channel are putting in this year for the live webcast! I call dibs on this thing if they ever get rid of it. Make sure you tune in at Streetleague.com.
Branding, branding, branding.
Pat
Pat Daly doesn't mind getting on a sketchy stepladder to hang banners...
Neither does Eric McKenney...I don't like where this is going.
Mikah Collins apparently doesn't mind either. This is the definition of the word "sketchy". That's Streetleague's Shawn Seward with 911 on speed dial.
Brian Reardon clearly has a huge list of responsibilities for the weekend, as him and his team Auxiliary Channel will be making sure the live webcast comes through crystal clear for you if you can't be here in person. No pressure, Brian.
Jeni Armstrong is hard at work making sure the bills get paid and taking on more work than we do. As well as being a genuinely rad person.
Speaking of genuinely rad people: Paul Zitzer is in town!
Denis Frain will be one of the shop dudes helping you get your wristbands and checking people in for Pro all weekend. All our retail guys kill it, so make sure you give them a high five when you come through.
The official t-shirt for Tampa Pro 2015. Get yours here. These also come in ladies and youth sizes.
SPoT private label is always a good call. If you can't be here in person, show some love online. Notice anything different about the shop floor?
Well, here's what the shop floor looked like before...now it has a fresh new coat of paint. We're adding little upgrades all over the park to make it even better. Let us know what you think.
Thursday night is our Welcome to Town Party and this year, we're doing it at The Bricks with a skateboard photo show called "Moat Definitely". Here's a sneak peek at some of the work that will be on display by Ed Templeton, Bryce Kanights, Bart Jones, Mike Burnett, Rhino, and more. We hope to see you there and all weekend. I can't wait to see some old faces and meet some new ones. Happy Tampa Pro, everyone.
