20 Years of Zero Demo - SPoT Life

Posted on Friday, September 30, 2016 by Chris

Jamie Thomas and the rest of the Zero squad descended on SPoT a few weeks ago, where they stoked the kids and ripped their way through a heavy repertoire of moves. Then Jamie takes us along on a guided tour of the 20 Years of Zero photo and deck show. Watch and learn.

With social media and the internet taking over are people no longer interested in demos and signings? Jamie Thomas and the Zero Team are here to prove they’re not. Jamie Thomas, Adrian Lopez, James Brockman, Tony Cervantes, Dane Burman, Windsor James, Franky Villani, JS Lappeire and Adam Arunski came through to celebrate 20 Years of Zero in Tampa. SPoT was the last stop of the trip and we couldn’t be more stoked.
As part of their 20 year tour, they set up an art show showcasing the most memorable decks and photos from Zero’s 20 years. Jamie Thomas didn’t get here by sitting around, he takes charge and sets up the show in some comfortable footwear.
Boards for Bros was out here taking donations and anything you could spare to help spread the love of skateboarding. If that puppy doesn’t make you want to empty your pockets you’re not human.
There was also a free BBQ for all you hungry woodpushers. Bart doing what he does best and getting saucy. Bart has also been on this trip with Zero so be sure to check out his amazing coverage.
James Brockman was here at SPoT warming up in the concrete course. FS 5-0 on the brick. Whats your favorite part from James? Mine is Strange World.
Franky Villani is a newer addition to Zero but I think I could see him staying here for another 20 years. Franky executes the FS Smith with style. Make you check out his No Cash Value welcome part to Zero.
Tony Cervantes was a personal favorite to see. New Blood from Zero was one of my first videos and Tony went savage. Tony going Melon to get things started.
JS
JS Lapierre isn’t a new name on Zero but I don’t think too many people know his name yet. Here is proof why you should know the name, FS Noseblunt across the long rail.
Dane has got the best board control on 50-50’s on rails but he knows how to skate a demo and have fun too. Dane, Pewter Blunt to Fakie.
Jamie Thomas has been putting in work for over 20 years to be here today and it shows. He’s setting up, taking charge and Gap to Blunting rails while he’s at it.
Dane dancing on the rail. FS 180 Switch Krook.
Speaking of Tony and New Blood, who remembers this trick down that triple set? Heelflip BS Sexchange.
Franky went from warming up to straight up destruction in the park. No Comply 180 Switch 50-50. I don’t know how long this handrail has been a part of SPoT but I’m almost positive Franky just put down an NBD.
JS
JS floating high on this Kickflip FS 50-50.
Austin Arunski is new on Zero but he knows the deal. Kickflip Boardslide. Great fit to the team and hope to see more from him!
Tony and Bart have a connection, look at that eye contact. I might’ve gotten in the way of Bart’s flash here but I know this photo still turned out sick. Check out his photos at SPoT as well.
If you know 20 years of Zero, you know how amazing Misled Youth was. Jamie did this Barley Grind while Baba O’ Riley was playing. Can you say nostalgia!?
Franky is a demo-litioner, straight savage. Full Cab BS Tailslide to Fakie!
JS
The demo was over, the people were leaving but JS had something else in mind. Landing this Tre Flip FS Noseblunt to shut it down.
After the demo everyone piled into the snackbar for the signing and 20 Year art show. Here's an overall look at what they came to display.
Lots of happy faces getting their memorabilia signed.
Tony, good choice on getting the boxset signed.
Happy dad and son with some crispy decks.
Adrian Lopez is a legend, putting down some of the heaviest and technical moves for his time. Here he stands next to an iconic BS Tailslide photo. Heres a history lesson for you all: his Misled Youth part.
Zero would not be where it is today if it wasn’t for Jamie Thomas. He’s an entrepreneur and a businessman. He’s hand picked every person on the team and pushed them to be the professionals they are today. He set the standards for big rails and by far paid his dues. After it was all said and done I asked him what his favorite photo was, he said and stood next to his FS Smith photo from the iconic Misled Youth. You can check it out here at 4:37.
The dudes have cleaned out, beat and ready to drive home after a cross country tour. Thanks for coming out to remind us of what Zero means and what it has given us over the past 20 years. Demo was amazing the 20 Year Art Show was sick and meeting everyone was so cool. Till next time!
