Tampa Am 2016: Finals Coverage

Posted on Monday, November 14, 2016 by Chris

If this was your first year at Tampa Am, you picked a damn good one. The skating was on point, the people were rad, and even the typically uncomfortable Florida weather gave us a break this weekend. We're glad you came, and if you couldn't make it, hopefully you watched it live on Streetleague.com. We're gonna say it a lot, but countless high fives go out to Dashawn Jordan for a FLAWLESS run. But we also have to give it up to Zion Wright and Alex Midler, both of which are freaks from outer space that were sent here to dominate the skateboarding world. Check out some photos of the last day and stay tuned for the SPoT Life edit coming soon.

First things first... get a photo of Eli Williams warmin it up for the Semis, he’s got the photogenic moves.
The look of a proper Switch Ollie is undeniable. John Dilo knows thee approach.
Keyaki Ike might not have made Finals, but he does have Monster fueled KF Backlip Slides.
Somehow Jamie Foy can pop out of Nosepicks without grabbing. Only one explanation... MAGIC!
Yoshi would prefer to not have to kick a sea turtle in the face, but if that what it takes to get a Tre Flip to Fakie then so be it.
Who
You close your eyes for a sec and next thing you know your dog is wearing your hat. And I thought I had seen it all!
Zion ally-oops on his green screen board.
Hey you! Don’t be silly, when you grind do a Willy!
The real Donny Barley has grinded his own move in this very same warehouse. Jack Olson pays ode to a legend.
Jagger Eaton’s hustlin pays off with a Backside Flip the tough way.

I love it when they call me Fakie Poppa.
Zion’s dad Mustafa lets his son know it's time for battle through the cries of the conch shell.
Zion wears his visor up front, although he puts his Tailslides in the Back.
When you’re a powerhouse wrecking ball like Zion, its always good to have back up. DLXs Nate Alton has got it handled.
No-Comply 180 Fakie 5-O: Frankie Villani runs it.
We all know about the Monster girls, but what about Monster guys? Oochie-wawa! Something for the ladies!!
Uncle Sam wants to try out to be a Monster hunk too.
If Vincent Milou stayed on, there could've possibly been a double Tampa Am win for France. Regardless..you killed it Vince!!
Wheres Karlo?
Donate, Spin a wheel, get a prize.. sounds like a pretty sweet deal.
Tre Flip Lip, when you dip I dip we dip, Dashawn Jordan impresses with some fancy footwork.
At this point, Midler is in the lead as Dashawn patiently waits for his score.
I was a little confused as upon the notification of taking the lead, Dashawn threw his board and started crying, shouldn’t you be happy bud?
Ok, Okay, K guys, settle down... we’re not quite done just yet.

Pro-tec TM RP Bess sports the product.
Just can’t get enough of Zion. He uses the power of the Conch to fuel this KF BS Lipslide.
Live Free Or Die.
Dashawn doesn’t need to run it on a hunch no mo', it is confirmed: he is our 2016 Tampa Am winner!
Before we celebrate, gotta pay ode to a few peeps with the Thanks For Showing Up award. First up, the group from Japan. These fools are dedicated!!
Thumbs up and thanks for comin' out to the SLS girls.

Zach’s Nollie B/S flip over that dang manatee again.
Angelo Caro all the way from Peru makes the top ten. Not a bad scenario.
Ivan Monteiro has been here for a week now skating. It all pays off when you hold down the 8th place spot.
Ivan’s got the Switch Front Blunts too!
Past Tampa Am winner, Jack Olson continues to hold it down with 7th place.
Jack looking comfy as ever on a Switch Back Smith.
A couple of Jereme Knibbs' homies attempted to prematurely blast the champagne. Good idea in theory but short lived. Jereme uses his 6th place trophy as a shield
Jereme performs a Nosestall pop back in, all while matching his clothes with the park.
A lot of us thought Jagger might take it again this year, but no dice. Still absolutely killed it though.
Jagger Switch Front Feeble Grind.
Watch out for Yuto... he’ll getchya. And he’ll also get that 4th place spot as well.
Yuto’s big ole Back Three... unfortunately after time.
Geez, I wish I was more like Zion’s dad, that guy is cooool.
Zion guiding a Crook into the Tranny and 3rd place.
Midler was so close but got cinched at the last minute. A good sport about it tho, nevertheless.
Grab N’ Snatch! Alex gets it done in the elbow.
And there you have it!
One last Dashawn highlight.
Another successful one for the books. If you’re reading this, we couldn’t have done it without you. Thank You!
