SPoT Road Trip - Miami

Posted on Friday, December 23, 2016 by Chris

Early on this month, the SPoT team and friends planned to pack up the van and hit the road en route to Miami for an extended weekend of filming for a new video. As we got there, we ran in to multiple problems from keeping us from being able to skate. The forecast was 80% rain all weekend, but we still managed to dodge the weather and stack some clips while in between stopping by MIA Skateshop and getting a fun session in at Ramp 48 Indoor Skatepark. Huge shoutout to the Montoyas for having us and letting us skate while the weather wasn't agreeing with us.

After planning to meet at the park at 7:30, we finally gathered the van crew for the weekend at 9, and set the GPS to Miami.
We stopped in Cape Coral to drop Eric's dog Luna off for the weekend, which only meant that we had to drive down the road to the infamous Centennial Park located in Downtown Fort Myers. Odds are you will see these two mini hydrants in a row in any Florida video.
Alejandro getting a little buck at Centennial. This over the rail spot is no joke.
After complications with checking in with our Air BNB and getting kicked out of the complex for our oversized van, we rushed to find this steal of a place to stay. 80$ a night for a beachview of South Beach? Perfect.
We started out the next day by checking out MIA Skateshop.
Later on that day, we stopped by Ramp 48 Skatepark and handed out some product. These two were stoked.
We caught a session at Ramp 48, then Marcos Montoya and Kevin Timmons showed us around Ft Lauderdale. This was a cool undercover spot at FAU.
As we were packing up to leave the undercover spot, three university police officers pulled up. Turns out, one of them skated Tampa Am over a decade ago. We were soon out of there and on the way back to Miami.
Sunday morning we stopped at a well known breakfast spot on South Beach.
Before we left, we made sure we'd stopped by the Marlins Stadium for this perfect manual pad. It started raining on us, but at this point we were sick of it and didn't let it stop us from skating.
After a long and exhausting weekend, we headed back to sunny Tampa.
