I’ve said it everyday thus far, but dammit it’s a nice-ass day here in Lake Forest. We rolled up just in time to catch the Women’s Street and roll around the Park for a minute. It was super-mellow with some people warming up in the flow area and just cruising around. I actually missed most of the Qualifiers because I was having so much fun skating, but I did manage to catch the Finals, which was a 10-minute Jam. I’m feeling the Jam format in a park that’s as big as the etnies Skatepark.

Here are some of the stand-outs that I recall:

  • Lacey Baker – Alex Moul said to me, “I saw that girl in front of ASR about two years ago and saw her do and kickflip off a curb and said to my mate, ‘That girl is good.’” Well, he hit the nail on the head because Lacey’s flick is better than ever with her hardflips and bs flips over the cone
  • Evelien Bouilliart – fs lips and smiths on the 11-stair aren’t really even that big of a deal to Evelyn. She also ollied the huge double-set first try
  • Marisa Del Santo – I always remember Marissa because we had some Tampa Am Registration difficulty with her last year, but she ended up making it in…and she deserves it, too. She’s got a bs lip on an 11-stair. Do you?
  • Vanessa Torres – I’m going to give the most style award to Vanessa. She was making skateboarding look good out there today. Sort of like ‘it’s not what you say, but how you say it,’ sometimes it’s not what you do, but how you do it. Vanessa skates like someone that’s been ripping for 20 years with her ‘stylee’ tailslides, 5-0’s, and fs rocks. Feelin’ it
They’re not announcing the results until the final Awards Ceremonies on Sunday night, so for now we can’t tell you who won what, so you’ll just have to come back to check it out on Sunday.

UPATE: Results are here:

1st – $3500 – Marisa Del Santo
2nd – $2500 – Evelien Bouilliart

Evelien Bouilliart ollied the double let right before the Jam ended

Marisa Del Santo - back lip on the bump to flat bar
