Founded in 1977 the @wildsheepfoundation (WSF) was the direct response to the dwindling herds of Bighorn Sheep which lacked sufficient population numbers and hunting opportunity, and hence licenses and tags to help pay its way. WSF has raised over $90 million dollars. More than $46 million in these funds directed to agencies from special permits and tags alone. Rocky Mountain, California and desert bighorn sheep numbered 17,000 in the 1960's, that number has now been expanded to 70,000 today. With direct donations and funding from good minded hunters and conservationists. I support the WSF and its goal to "put more sheep on the mountain", I also actively contribute personally. Big thanks to all the skaters that showed up today for the Cherry Park(Bixby Park) Skatepark opening in Long Beach California, you guys rule! it was especially sweet to see @lancemountain show up and give support. 👊 #thanks @vansskate @zumiez @caskateparks photo: @asklongbeach background props @aacostaa
Cherry Park re-build officially opens tomorrow!!! @chillrobgee sneaks in the first grind at the park, and rightfully so! Join us tomorrow July 10th in Long Beach as we open the park to the public, starting at 2pm with giveaways, @vans team signing and a musical appearance by Fucked Up + Special Guests. 2pm-10pm 130 Cherry Ave, Long Beach California. @Zumiez @asklongbeach @caskateparks #community #spirit #support
Fire hydrant is set, the 'round' flat bar goes in next. The Cherry Park re-build is coming together. Not sure if you guys know this but funding for this project was made possible by @vans @caskateparks and @Zumiez there will be no visible branding onsite and the whole park is essentially being done to support and nurture the Long Beach skate scene. Without any cost to the city or skaters. #thanks #cherrypark #longbeach #california
I know this is a tough sight for all the LBC locals(including myself!) to see, but securing this location permanently is a huge step for the local scene. Building started today and ends Thursday, the day before the grand opening. Without the generous and kind help of Mike Donelon @asklongbeach this project would not be seeing the light of day. Mike has fought for the skaters and helped spearhead all the major skatepark projects in the Long Beach area. If you see him at the opening give him a warm welcome and a huge "thank you". The design of the park mirrors what was already in place. Essentially it's an upgrade with no other changes, no tranny, helmets, etc...same Cherry Park but with a new and permanent face. Feel free to comment with questions on the project, I'll do my best to answer what I can. #cherrypark #longbeach #california
