Wit-E Beats Chinese New Year Dunk Review

"Every time I felt That was that, it called me right back.
It called me right back.
Man, it called me right back"
Jay-Z

That quote from Jigga perfectly sums up my feelings about the latest Dunk High Premium release from Nike SB designed by Johhny Tang and Jeff Han. This release was dubbed the Year Of The Horse aka Red Packet aka Chinese New Year aka the best quality SB release in a minute. Nike really came through on this jawn, The materials are second to none and easily the best quality suede we have seen from Nike SB in a long time. If velvet and cashmere f#%*ed and had a baby, this suede would be the product. Baby thighs. Drake lyrics. This shit is SOFT. In the words of Johhny himself: "We wanted to come up with something that skaters could enjoy skating and also bring the elements of a joyful new year. Red represents good luck while gold represents fortune. This was meant for skaters to enjoy any time of the year." Thank You Johnny!

The upper is comprised of University Red suede, aside from the ankle collar and Swoosh, which are crafted from University Red leather. They feature a University Red nylon tongue which has a gold border that matches the gold interior lining and the stitching along the red midsole. The tongue tag is red with metallic gold Nike SB branding that sets off the metallic gold shadow behind the red Swoosh and really helps the metallic gold flakes in the translucent sole pop. The insole continues the red theme and has two different Chinese symbols in gold, one on each insole. I have no clue what they mean, hopefully one of you can translate for me. They come with red SB laces in the kix and the alternate laces are also red and made of thread resembling horse hair to carry out the Year Of The Horse theme.

These are my favorite dunks to come out in quite awhile. From the dope ass concept and design, to the primo materials, to the quality of the craftsmanship: these dunks are da bidniss. This is a pair that you can put on and instantly feel fresh. For all you Tampa locals, I would skip Gasparilla and hit SPoT Ybor at noon to snag yourself a pair. For you out of towners, you can try your luck online at 8am EST on skateparkoftampa.com. Retail is $108 and these DO NOT come with the gold coin lacelock. Only the China release got those. However, my homie Brandan hipped me to the fact you can grab a set of those on Ebay for cheap. We also got a very small number of Year Of The Horse Dri-Fit shirts, so if you want one of those, you need to be one of the first in line.

Hopefully this is a sign of great things to come for Nike SB in the year 2014.
