Tampa Am 2016: Saturday Qualifiers Coverage

Posted on Sunday, November 13, 2016 by Chris

Yesterday was the official Tampa Am Qualifiers, which means that 16 skaters from Friday's Pre-Qualifiers got to join up with top 10 winners from all the 2016 Damn Am series, plus some hand-picked rippers that have stood out for the year. Get all that talent and put it together under one roof and you've got a hell of a contest.

Park was super mellow yesterday morning, no one shoulda had any problem getting in there and “defining their line”.
Since there was no one there practically, Lucas Rabelo had no problem dialing in his Back tails...
Last year, Lehi Leite got the Golden Ticket, this year not so much; at least he got this Switch Big Heel tho.
Jon
Just an example of how insanely good these dudes are, Jon Cosentino killed with Frontside Flips over the rail among other notables and didn’t even make the cut by a long shot.
Jonathon Reece is usually the guy doin’ the big gnarly shit and not dinky Nollie Inward Heels over the pyra corner. But hey - we ain’t judgin…oh shit, wait, we are.
Hey wheres my filmer?!
Marek Zaprazny cuts the Malarkey with a Nollie 180 Heel.
Some call it a Stallone Slide others a Suicide, over the back. Gage! What in the world is it!!?
Jake Wooten Ally-Oops into a Fakie 50/50 and plunges back into the abyss.
Frankie Villani becomes one with the Blue mid No-Comply Fakie 5-O.
Peruvian Powerhouse Angelo Caro takes advantage of the built in shelf with a Blunt Nosegrab Fakie.
Jean-Luc finds a new passion for chasing skate sounds and growing an eagles nest on his head.
Henry Gartland takes advantage of the new comp format and qualifies two times B with a Kickflip Frontside Lipslide.
Smooth as a Brazilian Wax, Lucas Rabelo Back Noseblunt Slides the Hubba.
Das Pinch Ambassador, Jamie Foy Back Overcrooks to Fakie into the Plow.
“Hey man, you're up...good luck! (pat on back) Hmmmfff friends like these..."
Shareef Grady aka yung speakerbox.
Hi my name is Brodie Penrod and I’ll have the big salad, ‘we don’t have a big salad! we have a long Salad!’
Yuto Horigome makes the best of flying halfway across the world for a contest and cops 1st place in qualifiers; Yeah Yuto!!
Yuto comin’ thru with moves like this that you can’t deny... Switch fs 180 Crook.
Filmer Master Genius Guru Frank Branca gets ready to document the Best Trick contest and has his daughter Piper help out.
Dakota Hunt gets the Best Trick rollin by Bluntsliding the whole Bitch and finger flipping out. Kinda makes you wanna say: DAMMMNNNNN!
Lock into a pinch and plow through the crowd, Front Crook-Back Smith and into the tran.
Angelo Caro scores 5th place in Best Trick with uh Bigspin Frontblunt Bigspin Out.
Until someone explains to me how to shoot a photo of bigspin frontblunt bigspin here is a photo that makes a little bit more sense, Tre Flip Lip with wax minion in tact.
Yuri Facchini cops 4th place in Besty with a Cab Frunt Blunt Slide another mystery as far as photo goes.
Ivan Monteiro goes flippy skippy with a 270 Flip Lipslide 270 out and winds down into 3rd place.
JP
JP Oliveira comes thru with 2nd place in BT... wait a minute, I’m starting to see a pattern here… is Independent Best Trick only for Brazilians??
Had to get the whole crew together for Gabriel Jr’s epic Best Trick win with a Crook Nollie Big Flip Out. Congrats Gabriel!! You killed it!!
When you’ve Ollied the poles at Wilshire, you got nothin to prove.. Shareef Grady takes it real leisurely with a under board carve as the speaker box blares.
Another epic Qualifier and Independent Best Trick today for the books, and it’s only gonna get more intense today! We got Myles Willard and all the Damn Am winners back at it in the Semi’s today then Yuto and Damn Am Of The Year Zach Saraceno tag back in for the Finals soon after. It’s gonna be completely insane!!!!!
