2nd Annual Matix Halloween Jam at SPoT

Posted on Tuesday, October 28, 2014 by Chris

A few SPoT team riders and employees rolled down to Bradenton park on Saturday for a session with Matix team riders Zack Wallin and Turkey Stopnik, accompanied by TM Gabe Clement and Daran Godfrey from Matix as well.
Turkey immediately got things started with some radical tranny maneuvers. Turkey's frontside ollies were beautiful. That's how you do them kids.
Turkey moved on from the clam shell to the vert wall where he nosepicked it first try. This wall is huge, but turkey confidently slid this frontside crailslide across the tiles and back down the massive wall.
SPoT team rider Alejandro Burnell wanted in on the action. He hopped across the box on this fastplant with youthful joy.
SPoT team rider Eric McKenney has amazing pop. Here's Eric doing a flawless nollie backside flip over a barrier from the bank. Classic spot setup, classic trick.
Turkey was on fire at Bradenton. His runs in the bowl were so smooth and powerful. This frontside air was one of the many tricks he handled in the deep end.
About into the session at Brandenton park the Red Bull team showed up. Jagger Eaton, Joey Brezinski and Felipe Gustavo posed with some of the local kids. Red Bull team riders Alex Midler and Alex Sorgente were already skating and missed out on this photo op.
Like I said, Alex Sorgente was already ripping. Red Bull girls Jackie and Kristin were in awe of Alex's humongous Madonnas--their faces are priceless!
Zack Wallin was quietly destroying the street course. I think he ollied over every obstacle there. Zack frontside 180'ed over the entire box, and right after he landed it, Blade Runner tried to one-up him.
Felipe Gustavo has a textbook backside noseblunt slide. Felipe slid this one on the box as Joey Brezinski rolled up behind him to back him up.
Our crew left Brandenton and hit a costume shop en route to SPoT. From left to right: boss man Brian Schaefer as Fidel Castro, Eric "Blunt Master" McKenney, Aaron Austin the psycho vato cameraman, Zack "Hotdog" Wallin and Luke Pallone channeling Animal Chin.
On his first trick back at SPoT, Zack injured his ankle. He has a great attitude though, and even though he was in pain he made a point to hang out with the crowd of fans. Zack's a great dude.
I caught this ghoulish family walking past some of the pumpkins in the courtyard. Thanks for supporting the park guys!
The new star of Breaking Bad and SPoT employee Chris Preston posed with rookie cop and SPoT product photographer Marino Nicastro and SPoT employee loc'ed out Jack Loktu. They were getting hyped for the best trick contest about to go down in the new Pro Course.
Ramante Cooper set the bar high during best trick with this proper kickflip crook down the hubba.
Jereme Knibbs destroyed this set-up with tricks like this nollie backside 180 over the rail into the bank.
Yonis Molina took the cake with this blasted fakie heelflip over the rail into the bank. Such a hard and rare trick.
Top three in best trick: Jimmy Mastrocolo; 3rd, Yonis Molina; 1st, Jereme Knibbs; 2nd.
Some of the many costumes. HYPE.
Evil Mistress Alex Bibiloni had PBR flowing in the courtyard. Watch out fella, there might be razor blades in that tallcan.
The bowl was packed with spectators ready to witness some devilishly good skating for our Bloody Bowl Jam. Deein Coats hustled around the deck while a group of ghosts whipped around in the bowl.
Turkey was in and out quick on this front 50 yank out. He had to get back to his second shift at In-N-Out burger. See what I did there?
Alex "Dirt Weasel" Sandino was flying over the hip and grabbing all kinds of ways. This crail grab that Alex did was really impressive. Alex took third place in the bowl jam but hurt his ankle/foot near the end of the jam. We hope you get well soon buddy.
Jereme Knibbs absolutely annihilates transitions, but this move here was unbelievable. Jereme ollied out to backtail and ollied back in like it was childs-play. Thanks for blowing all of our minds Jereme.
Here's that ghoulish family again. They won the best costumed family award and some prizes from Matix.
If this photo doesn't make you happy then I don't know what will. Pure fun.
On Sunday we invited the Matix guys over to Mikah's house for a BBQ and mini-ramp jam. Josh Wilson had some good moves like this kickflip backtail.
Kids, eat your vegetables so you can grow up big and strong and good at skateboarding.
My buddy Zach Gosteli was in town from his post in Italy with the Air Force. He brought a nice little hurricane with him.
Tom
Zach's arch nemesis and SPoT employee Tom McKessy naturally had to try to take Zach out. I'm just kidding, we're all friends.
Sunday was a real dog party. I think I counted five or six dogs running around together. Eric McKenney gave some love to Allen Russell's dog Sarge while he carried on a conversation with Jeni. Oh, and that's the Red Bull truck in the background. Cullen Traverso brought it over to blast some tunes for us.
Jeni brought some homemade rum cake. Looks delicious.
Turkey shut down the mini-ramp jam with this crazy backside boneless. He rips so hard. Thanks for making it to Florida Turkey.
After Turkey shut down the ramp, Daran from Matix shut down the party when he chopped a full beer with a hatchet from distance. Everyone went crazy! Thanks Matix for a great weekend, and thanks to Creature, PBR and Red Bull for adding to it. We hope you all enjoyed it.
