Inequality Video: On the spot / SPoT On

Posted on Friday, July 1, 2016 by Chris

Last Saturday, our good friend and filmer Jean-Luc Vida premiered his new video 2 years in the making: Inequality. Featuring a handful of local homies and some SPoT team riders, the video turned out to be even better than we all expected. Over 200 people packed out the Muvico Centro Ybor theater, putting it over capacity, and everyone showed so much love. We sat down with Jean-Luc to get some perspective on such an epic project and what went into making it happen. Check out his SPoT On interview below and then peep a few photos we got on location while filming.

Jean-Luc Vida, the mastermind and filmer behind Inequality. JL made it his mission to film this entire video with a Sony VX1000 while most people have dropped those dinosaurs for HD cameras. This video really puts on for St. Petersburg and Tampa, Florida, highlighting the new talent and filming parts for those who truly deserve it. The video features Derick Glancy, Malcom Seaman, Yonis Molina, Uncle Sam, Eric McKenney, Markus Jalaber and Cory Foster; along with two major friends sections. I would 100% recommend buying this video if you haven’t seen it yet.
This day was one for the history books. Jereme Knibbs, Yonis Molina, Eric McKenney and Uncle Sam. These guys were taking a break while Markus filmed a line.
This BS Flip by Markus was the ender to that line I mentioned before. This spot has a crazy curvy and skinny roll up but that doesn’t stop him.
Same Day! Uncle Sam propped this sidewalk up and skated this old school spot different than other people. This BS Nose Blunt was smooth. It didn’t make it to the final cut but it made it to the teaser which you can peep on YouTube.
Markus didn’t stop. This Krooked grind was a great end to the day. The whole squad went in on this spot, Eric and Jereme got clips too.
Speaking of Eric, you’re gonna be blown away by his part. This Switch Flip is only a taste of the destruction. I live and work with Eric, let me tell you this dude has got tricks up his sleeve.
This was a crazy one! Ollie up to a quick FS Flip into the bank. This is one of those spots everyone skates that same way, mostly as manual pad, because the thing is short. But Eric’s got those Florida quick feet and handles business.
Yonis Molina has been a name in Tampa for years. When I first moved here 7 years ago, I knew he was a force to be reckoned with. This FS Feeble was so clean! The roll up was shitty, skinny and there's this ledge you have to grind/pop over or you’re done for but Yonis handled business and kept it moving.
Speaking of keeping it moving, he didn’t stop there. This spot you might recognize from USF. At one time there was a bench instead of a pole. Yonis continues his day with a FS Heelflip from the bump to pole.
Markus Jalaburrrrr! with the BS Smith! Fun fact: Markus landed this trick before I could snap a great photo, but he hopped back on there and did it again for the camera.
