Can’d Aid and Cigar City Give the Gift of Skateboarding

Posted on Tuesday, June 18, 2019 by Chris

On May 23, Skatepark of Tampa and Boards for Bros teamed up with Can’d Aid and Cigar City Brewing for a night of building skateboards and celebrating the launch of CCB’s After Sesh beer at The Bricks. Volunteers helped transform the components from Crailtap into 40 rad completes that were distributed to the entire fourth grade at DeSoto Elementary School in Tampa.

Huge thank you to Cigar City Brewing and Can’d Aid for making this distribution possible! Now the kids at DeSoto can actually use the skatepark that exists across the street from their school.

If you are interested in helping us give the gift of skateboarding to more kids in underserved communities, buy some After Sesh beer (a donation is made to Boards for Bros for every case sold) and check out BoardsforBros.org for more information on how you can help!

Logan Firehammer from Can’d Aid welcomed everyone to The Bricks and gave everyone the lowdown on how we were going to put the skateboards together.
Community volunteers lined up and picked up all the Crailtap parts they needed to build a brand new complete skateboard.
Building skateboards is a great community-building event where people of all ages and backgrounds can work together to build something great - no skateboard building experience necessary!
All the volunteers were entered into a raffle and Cigar City Brewing gave away a deck - this is the lucky winner!
Big thank you to all the community volunteers who came out.
Shout out to all the staff and volunteers from Cigar City Brewing, Can’d Aid, Boards for Bros, The Bricks and SPoT for an epic event.

Another SPoT Team member, Rolo C. showing the kids how it's done.
After a SPoT team demo, the kids got the good news that they are getting their own skateboards and helmets.
The students got to pick out their new Crailtap completes.
Thanks to Cigar City Brewing and Can’d Aid, these kids will have a summer full of skateboarding.
