SPoT and Boards for Bros are stoked to be having our friends from A.skate over to host an autism-friendly skateboarding clinic. We will be giving lessons to youth on the autism spectrum and providing a fun, relaxing environment for families to hang out. Skateboarding is known to "heal the soul" but for special kids in our community, it is so much more! Skateboarding offers nearly every component of Occupational Therapy with a focus on motor, vestibular, and proprioceptive skills. A.skate clinics allow these children to be social on their own terms. SPoT, Boards for Bros and A.skate will work together to teach the children how to skateboard and teach the parents how to incorporate skateboarding into the lives of their families. Want to join us? We need skaters to participate in the clinic! We need skate instructor volunteers! We need non-skate volunteers! Want to know what an A.skate Clinic is all about?
