This week’s launch of Scion’s new sportswear collection, RELEASE, celebrated with a celebrity charity golf tournament at the Arizona Biltmore Resort and Spa, brought together the brightest stars in music, fashion, film, and sports. With all proceeds benefiting the Boys & Girls Club of America, the celebrities battled the cold rain and wind to make it through 18 holes at The Players Club for the charity. Celebrities included Raekwon, Mike Jones, Hill Harper, America’s Next Top Model winner Naima Mora, Zoe Saldana, Estevan Oriol, Ryan McPartlin, Mike Vogel, Corri English, Mr. Cartoon, Emilio Rivera, Sway, Funkmaster Flex, Flex Alexander, Ricky Powell, Lovebug Starski, DJ Haul, DJ Klever, Biz Markie, Jamal Munnerlyn, NFL players Haloti Ngata, Dhani Jones and Damien Anderson, pro skateboarder Stevie Williams, Jesse Terrero, Dania Ramirez, Burton team member and Olympic gold medalist Hannah Teter, Olympic silver medalist Danny Kass, Burton Team Riders, Todd Richards, Dingo with WU-Tang’s UGOD, G-Unit, Mobb Deep and MOP. Teams included Vibe Magazine, Stuff Magazine, Frank151, Mass Appeal, Vice, Yokohama, Soul Assassins, NFL Players Inc., XM Satellite Radio, Boost Mobile, Reebok, and with HBO’s hit series Entourage star, Jeremy Piven, taking center stage as the weekend’s host.

Highlights from the event included a fashion show on the night of the 20th for the launch of Release, a sportswear line with a twist combining traditional golf wear with cutting-edge, high-end street wear sensibility. The awards ceremony following the tournament was an exciting affair, where the award for Most Drinks Consumed on the Course went to the Boost Mobile Team. The Best Dressed Team award went to the Vice Magazine Team, with the Best Shot bestowed upon the Wu-Tang Clan’s Raekwon. Worst Team was given to XM Satellite Radio and Release co-designer Blue Davis took home the coveted Most Valuable Player medal.

The success of the Scion brand has created a culture that extends beyond the automobile industry. Release launches Scion into the world of fashion. The 2006 line is co-designed by Blue Davis and Jupiter Desphy III, two of the most sought-after street wear designers in the country. Through a national search of designers, 10 were chosen to submit their collections to Scion. From those entries, Blue and Jupiter were selected to co-create the inaugural Release collection. Continuing to embody the “freedom of artistic expression” theme that inspired Scion’s line of vehicles, Release is also the expression of luxury.

This celebrity golf tournament brought together vehicles in music, sports, film and fashion under one forward-thinking brand.
