Unless you've been living in a cave the last month or so, you know that the release of our limited edition SPoT X Nike SB Gasparilla Dunks is tomorrow morning. Whatever your feelings about the shoes (we're stoked), you can't deny that the main artist involved in designing them has done some amazing things for skateboarding. I'm talking about legendary (at least in the skateboarding world) illustrator / author / editor Sean Cliver. I won't go into too much detail on who he is in this article...you can read Paul Zitzer's Zaturdays from last week for that info. I will say that, as an artist myself, I've definitely been inspired by the level that Sean has taken skateboard graphics to, from the late 80s to today. So I for one am super hyped that he will have some original drawings on display tonight at The Bricks for a pop-up art show, celebrating the SPoT Dunk release tomorrow. As a bonus, there will also be some work showing by Paul Urich, who, along with Cliver, is currently invading the skateboarding world with Paisley Skateboards (more on that another time). Sean will also be in town, at The Bricks, hanging out and answering any questions you might have about his personal life, and maybe signing a groupie boob or two. So we hope you can join us...check out a little sneak peek of a few items that will be on display at the show, and we'll see you bright and early tomorrow morning for the shoe release. - Chris Preston Photos courtesy of Nick Halkias
