Day By Day At Tampa Pro 2003
Sunday, March 16, The end of the day So Tony Trujillo wins it. Check out this video of one of his runs in the finals and you'll see why. I don't think there were any obstacles he didn't hit, including the big rail, all while going 100 miles an hour and with the style that all skaters wish they had. I'm sure you're going to hear about one other skater in the Contest that didn't agree, so I'll skip mentioning it here. Everyone does dumb stuff every now and then when they're a kid and hopefully the reason for it was simply that. Right after the results were read and most of the crowd cleared out of the park, I skated the bowl with Paul Rodriguez and Javier Sarmiento. They're both pretty decent tranny skaters. I saw Paul learn ice plants to fakie during that session - not something you probably see very often. At the Contest After-Party, things started to get a little rowdy as usual, but then the main instigator was thrown out of the bar. They changed the music up from punk to reggae or something to calm everyone down I think. A few of the good photos from the night are also below. I guess they're not too exciting if you weren't there, so next year we'll see you here. Rob |
