Day-By-Day at ASR - Thursday

Posted on on Monday, September 15, 2003 by Ryan

I think that after several years of going to trade shows, you become a bit jaded on the whole scene. It’s not like I don’t like going, because I do, but maybe I’ve just been so wrapped up with the day in/day out of operating Skatepark that I didn’t really want to leave. But my attitude changed upon arriving in San Diego.

Barry & Big Black

Street course
Barry and I landed on Thursday evening and took a cab to our hotel, which happened to be the Clarion. It was the closest hotel to the San Diego Convention Center, next to the new baseball stadium, and in walking distance to the Gaslamp District (San Diego’s version of Ybor City).

We're like cool

Mini Ramp
After getting settled, we skated over to the show site to meet up with Schaefer and give him a hand on the finishing touches of the mini-ramp. After hanging out and skating the street course for a couple of hours, we figured out that the crew was going to pull an all-nighter and got the hell out of there.

Don't tempt me

The Fender Stage
The remainder of the evening was spent at some dive bar, but we managed to meet up with the entire DVS crew, including Sean Sheffey (let the name dropping begin), and Ian from Grind King. I’d really like to show you some pictures, but Barry forgot the camera. Check back every day for an update.
