The first Tampa Am to attract skaters from all around the country was held in 1996, three years after SPoT opened its doors. Donny Barley set the tone for the future of the contest by winning it and going on to a legendary pro career. The contest’s success was not only due to the high level of skating, but the good times that Ybor City still provides today. The event continues to grow and is now the de facto Amateur World Championships, attracting 200+ skaters each year from around the world. Besides the interest from throngs of amateur skaters, the contest is followed by the entire industry. Tampa Am has been a launch pad to the pros for skaters like Luan Olivera, Felipe Gustavo, and Nyjah Huston. The event is webcast live on ETNLive.com, offering everyone a taste of the Tampa Am experience.
