Damn Am Minneapolis at 3rd Lair
This is a top am contest where the top 12 get a spot in Tampa Am 2010. If you don't have a team manager from a legitimate company to put you in the contest, you can send video footage to rob@damnam.com to see if you're skating good enough to get a spot.
The Zumiez Destroyer Award is going to be given out to one person in the Contest. This is the guy that absolutely killed everything in site. He made it a point to bring a unique approach to every part of his riding throughout the entire park. Nobody else brought the pure destruction to the park that he did.
About Damn Am:
The Damn Am Series was created by Brian Schaefer and Rob Meronek as they noticed that there was a need to bring the Tampa-style am contests to skateboarders outside of Tampa. If you can't get into Tampa Am directly through your sponsor, entering a Damn Am is the only official way to qualify for Tampa Am. Basically, the “flavor" of the Tampa Contests is taken to locations around the country and Europe, too.
The first Damn Am started in 2001 at the Volcom Warehouse in Costa Mesa, CA and has been going strong ever since. The success of that event led the inception of the Minnesota Damn Am, taking place every June at 3rd Lair Skatepark in Minneapolis, MN, which has been running strong since 2003. In 2006, Volcom decided to help us take the Damn Am Series over the pond and the AmsterDamn Am was born and has been etched into the schedule as a yearly event.
The top 12 finalists at all Damn Am events get an automatic spot in Tampa Am, with the first two places getting thrown right into the Semi-Finals.
In addition to a damn fun time, the Damn Ams have assisted with many ams getting noticed on their way to professional careers. To say that most of today’s top pros have skated in a Damn Am Contest is not a stretch of the truth at all. In fact, with most of the industry watching at these events, it’s not difficult at all for a stand-out skater to pick up a new sponsor and gain some notoriety.

- Only a team manager from a legitimate skateboard company can register riders. Individuals are not allowed to sign up directly, but there are some exceptions if you're unsponsored and have a great video part

- Entry fee: Free, but only for Damn Am Street Contest skaters

- 6 pack of anything to enter the Contest (beer preferably)
- Event is one advanced division only
- 26 skater maximum entrants
- Open to anyone including Pro Skateboarders
- Registration begins today

Friday - Sreet Practice and Bowl Jam
- Open Practice 10am to 8pm for Damn Am skaters only
- Riders meeting at 4pm
- Contest format and night life will be the topics
- Heat sheets will be posted at the Park and online at 7pm

- 30 skaters maximum
- Two, 45-second runs, best run counts to determine results
- Top 10 skaters advance to the official Damn Am Bowl Jam
- 20 minute session in jam format, one intro run, skate until you fall
- Starts at 8pm
Saturday - Street Qualifiers
- Open Practice 9am to 11am for Damn Am skaters only
- Damn Am Street Contest
- Begins at 11am
- 100 skaters
- Five heats
- Two, one minute runs, best run counts to determine results
- Top 30 skaters advance to Semi-Finals
- Top two qualifiers go directly to Finals
Sunday - Semi-Finals
- Open Practice 9am to 11am for Damn Am Semi-Finals skaters only
- Damn Am Street Semi-Finals
- Begins at 11am
- 28 skaters
- Two, one minute runs, best run counts to determine results
- Top 10 skaters advance to Finals meeting up with top two street qualifiers
- Damn Am Street Finals
- Begins immediately after Damn Am Street Semi-Finals
- 12 skaters
- Three, one minute runs, best run counts to determine results
- All 12 skaters qualify for Tampa Am
- Top two skaters go directly to the Tampa Am Semi-Finals
- Damn Am Street Best Trick
- Available only for Damn Am Street Contest skaters
- 30 minute jam on obstacle to be determined during event

Take highway 494 west, go north on highway 100, go west on highway 394, get off on Louisiana Ave. exit, take a right on Louisanna Ave., take your first right on Frontage Road which is Market Ave, look for Taco Bell and take a left on Florida Ave., it's the 2nd building on the left hand side - (2 buildings away from Taco Bell) -
