We Have Palm Trees, They Got Cacti

As you know, Phoenix Am is every year in April. We have nothing to do with that contest, however, we go every year
simply for the enjoyment of watching a damn good skateboarding shindig as spectators. Not to mention the nice spots and parks. I remember five years ago when
Clem and I were there and we first realized Lizard King was someone who had all the elements to make it in skateboarding.
From Clem's article in 2005:
"I could have written this entire story on Lizard and Lizard alone...this guy is so marketable that you could make a fortune off an entire brand modeled simply after him. His antics, personality, and skating ability were entertaining the entire weekend. Lizard rips and smiles the whole way through."
These days, Lizard has come a long way. Anyway,
it's good to see another am contest keeping it to the level of only top ams and being run by legit people like Trent and Laura
over there at Cowtown Skate Shop. Unfortunately, I have another trip this year and will miss Phoenix Am, but Porpe is
bringing Jereme Knibbs and
RayRay. Good luck out there, Jereme and RayRay.
