Altamont was kind enough to sponsor this year's Back to School Bash, and to really kick off the fun weekend an Altamont Demo was scheduled. A lot of the guys who skate for Altamont also skate for Emerica. The problem with that is that their highly anticipated video, Stay Gold, is premiering around the country and the Emericans are all booked up. Luckily for us, Kenny Hoyle skates for DVS and came through. Garrett Hill was also going to skate, but unfortunately hurt himself the day before. Thanks a ton to Kenny Hoyle for coming through and ripping and hanging with the very appreciative and excited local kids.
Jay Brundege is a Sole Tech bid'ness guy. He installs displays all up and down the east coast, so you've seen his work in your local shop. I made him get a photo. "So people can know I skate?" he asked. "Industry types skating is on the decline in 2010," I replied. Backside 50 around the corner. Porpe is very excited, or "mucho fuerte," depending on which side of the language barrier you fall.
Skater Profile: Jorge Angel aka Porpe Chris Jata was snapping some of his usual tricks all evening. Sky high frontside flip.
Skater Profile: Chris Jata Porpe battled over this back tail for about 30 minutes, even having a shouting match with himself. He put it down and was all smiles though.
Skater Profile: Jorge Angel aka Porpe This is my homie Poochie. His real name is Nikolas and he has a crazy-ass Greek last name no one can pronounce. Nollie heel.
Skater Profile: Nikolaos Psilopoulos Kenny Hoyle ripped all evening despite the heat. He killed the ledge and this switch heel 5-0 was done with ease.
