Tampa Am 2005 Friday Street Words and Photos by Rob Meronek Friday Street Qualifier Results 1/21/2005 12:28:00 PM The first heat just ended. Rippers included Dominique Johnson, Torey Pudwill who stuck a nollie flip back lip in his run, and Antoine Asslein who had a perfect run.1/21/2005 1:38:00 PM The second heat was amazing. Danny Cerezini pulled the nollie 270 switch back lip in his run, then he hard flipped into the step up so chill like you and me just ollie into it. Derek Simon is no longer an unknown soldier, that dude rips and will probably be in the Semi-Finals. His TAPS are a little out of control, though. Jeffrey Marshall landed a frontside boardslide kickflip out in his run but might be kept out of the Semi-Finals because of a few bails. Rob Welsh was on the sidelines cheering for his boy Matt Miller who ripped and might have a chance at the Semi-Finals. He pulled a perfect nollie nosegrind down the hubba in his run. Tim O'Connor's improv on the mic is keeping everyone entertained, too. So far no fist fights. Sick.1/21/2005 2:53:00 PM The third heat is just about to wrap up now. Isevoneg Erdna (that's Andre Genovesi spelled switch) killed it with a switch flip 50-50 on the hubba and a perfect switch back tail on the ledge in his run. A few bails might keep him out of the top 16, however. Max Genin from France had a pretty good run which included a perfect back smith on the big rail. He got the Friday Golden Ticket at the Volcom Damn Am a few months ago. I don't think anyone else from this heat is going to make the cut. |
