@chuckpalahniuk spent the night at my house one night a long time ago. It was not long after a book he wrote, Fight Club, came out as a movie. He was there to do a story on @juliettelewis. He was the coolest, most interesting person I had ever met. I drove him to the airport. There are very few people I fan out over, but Chuck is definitely one of them. He gave me manuscripts to both Choke and Lullaby long before they were out. I flew up to Seattle one time just to see him read a chapter from one of his books, he then took my friend and I out to lunch afterwards. I haven't seen him in a long time but I read every book he puts out. I just picked this one up at the airport on my way to Salt Lake City for skull week at @skullcandy - if you haven't read Chuck's books yet, give it a shot, I think you'd like them.
A long time ago I started using a typewriter to express myself as a writer after I realized I couldn't use a guitar, the piano, or my voice to do it as a musician. I never thought skateboarding would turn into what it did. I think we all try to find a way to express ourselves. I think we aren't living unless we are. About 5 years ago I tried getting these keys tattooed on my forearms, but the artist and I just couldn't see eye to eye on how it should be... so I put it on hold.
To one of my favorite skateboarders and people of all time, Jeremy Klein: before we ever met you were my favorite skateboarder. It was a dream come true for me, being from the Midwest, to become such good friends with you. You looked out for me for many years and we have had some of the greatest times of my@life together. Thank you so much for being my friend when I desperately needed one. Happy Birthday, Jeremy. aka @hookupsofficial
I grew up playing soccer. I have over 90 first place trophies and got to play on all the best teams with some of the best players in the country. When I started skateboarding though, it all changed. I tried juggling them both for awhile but around 17 skateboarding won. My love for soccer has not diminished however and I'm hoping the boys go out there and do the best they can today, get a WIN and keep hope alive. (Thanks @koloheandino62 for the pic.)
