Go Skateboarding Day 2023 Coverage

Posted on Thursday, June 29, 2023 by Matt Shail

We teamed up with the infamous Westside crew, Vans, Monster, and Bones to bring another year of celebration of skateboarding. From Death Races to Cash for Tricks - we had it all going down here at SPoT!

Starting off with a picture...of pictures - submitted by some of our favorite local photographers and homies including: Jake Fuscardo, Chaz Miley, Shaq, Josh Bowser (me), and Matt Shail. The gallery features our personal favorites and SPoT and Westside memories.
Is Steezy the new glizzy king?
This isn't an ad. We promise.
SPoT Events coordinator, Matt Shail, getting the 1's ready for the Mons Venu--cash for tricks contest
"Alright kid you have to hold this bar otherwise Sly Sullivan is going to knock it down"
Sly
See what I mean, kid!
Westside's Mikey Premet should have won the High Ollie Contest for the amount of steeze placed on this one.
Someone tell Dylan LaBrake the object is to go OVER the bar
Another Westside rider in the mix, Matt McCauley
Our dude Peter Kryger came to play and took home the W on the High Ollie Contest
Congrats, Peter!
The SPoT grill is the place to be. Look at that glizzy!
Caleb was our grillmaster of the day. Bring this dude back! He kills it!
Best buds - John Montesi and some dude that fixes our internet.
What's an event without a good ol' fashioned Death Race?

Wes Box's speed is unparalleled. Congrats on first overall!

Fernando Ruiz with an inward heel tailslide
Alright, Fernando, that deserved some dough!
Eric skates switch skating switch? Or is he goofy? What stance is this guy?!
Cash for Tricks on the ledge: Never Forget
Kris Clayton with the quick feet: kickflip back suski
Peter Kryger approaches the ledge a little differently than most. He decided to ollie the entire thing.
Robby kickflip back 50 and Steezy kickflip back tail at the same time? Someone send this ledge to the ER
Keenan Lewis taking the new switch hits to the ledge.
Kris Clayton backs Keenan up with a switch back suski
Alright time to take it to the center piece. Kickflip back tail from Wes Box to start things off.
Marse Farmer switch tre a day to keep the doctor away.
Keenan has the dip, where are the chips?
It rained all day. That doesn't stop a bunch of hungry skaters from doing tricks for money.
SPoT team rider Kris Clayton with a switch front salad. Name someone else doing those.
Dylan LaBrake learned this last week and brought it out the bag for some cash. Kickflip crooks
The masked Matthew McCauley takes us over to the bump to bar with a first T tre flip for CASH $$
SPoT team OG James Cobb was there! Frontside flip perfection.
Westside founder and longtime SPoT homie John Montesi escapes the rain to give away from dough!
Why build something with a 2x4 when you can send Matt Shail out in the rain with one?
Eric!!!
Give the man his money
Robby Kirkland did a ghetto bird over the bump to bar. It was insane.
PJ
